McKee Botanical Garden to celebrate water lilies TCPalm
17.06.10
VERO Ground — More than 80 varieties of water lilies — some more than 100 years old — will be on display in the annual “Waterlily Frolic” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach.
“This is the most stunning time of year to call in the garden,” executive director Christine Hobart said. “Our collection of more than 200 potted the finest lilies in the ponds and waterways is one of the largest in the Southeast.
“When you add those on the banks, the number of blooming plants exceeds 300.”
A painting indication, photography class and a juried photo display have been added to the traditional tours, native wildlife interactions, repotting demonstrations and apparatus sales for this year’s sixth celebration.
“This is one of the few days we admit visitors at 9 a.m. so that they can take a self-guided tour to see the dusk-blooming lilies, which close by about 10 a.m.,” Hobart said. “The day lilies open between 8 and 9 a.m., so beginning arrivals will be able to view both the night and day varieties.”

im thinking of doing tea pots filled with flowers for my centerpieces?
Jan 27, 2009 by bonniejoy | Posted in Weddings
do they all have to tournament? is this a good idea for a victorian themed wedding?
thanks everyone! i feel better about the idea now...thanks for the controlled pictures! i love the teacup topiary!!!
Sounds like a colossal idea! They don't have to match. They don't even have to be the same size or type. Just make sure they all flow together.
jen | Jan 27, 2009
that's a in reality great idea. i would say they don't have to match- as long as they're all the same shape and size, pattern won't puzzle. people won't even notice.
the one and only | Jan 27, 2009
I entertain the idea it's a good idea, I think it would look good if they were china ones with flowers painted on them. But that would depend on the kip of your theme (colours etc) of course. Although if you had flowers IN them you wouldn't need the flowers to be painted ON them. Hmmm. Ok, overlook the painted flowers...

trim idea for a bridal shower not a wedding
vpsinbad50 | Jan 27, 2009
I have in mind that's a lovely idea. Actually it would be more quaint if they didn't match - you could borrow teapots from kinfolk and friends, and have a nice melange.
Oh no, I remember that would be quite lovely. Here is one example,

Or you can really have cute old fashioned tea pots and the flowers can be in small glass containers. Garden flowers such as, ivy, Spanish moss, indulge's breath, rosemary, orange blossoms, calla lilies, orchids, and white roses, would be honestly lovely.
You could even spice it up a little with some bright colored flowers such as orange blossoms or tiger lilies.would fit your text wonderfully.
This is a cool theme because you can go small or big and it'll still look lovely. Good luck with your wedding!

I don't even over recall they have to be the same size and shape. That would be a lovely addition to a Victorian themed wedding.
I'm hosting a bridal tea in a few weeks and found this milieu. Thought I'd pass it along in case you're interested.

But look at this picture as well:

That might look good in a tea pot as well. And it would definitely be more stable.

Why tea pots? Sounds genre of kitsch to me. Why not just use regular flower pots?
fizzy stuff | Jan 27, 2009
I intend that's a really pretty idea. I'd have all different coloured cutesy type teapots. If you be deficient in something more formal and less cute/fun then go with similar looking fancy teapots... anyway, I like the idea!
I hosted my cousin's marriage shower and we had a big tea party. I asked all the women in the family to loan me their 'fancy' cups & saucers and it was wonderful. Not many of the cups match, but the ladies all had a great time choosing the cup they thought was the prettiest.
I think the same would go here - It would actually be nicer if the teapots didn't all equal cause it was give some authenticity to it. Go for it!
sunshine_emmy | Jan 27, 2009
This is a wonderful awareness. It will look even better if the teapots do not match at all. Same general size, but that's it.
It would be cute to scour the second-jurisdiction stores for the tea pots and then give them away as 'prizes' at the end of the reception. It doesn't matter if some of them have small chips in the crockery.
My thoughts | Jan 27, 2009
I of that is a really cute idea! Have you thought about favors? What about tea? I saw these super cute tea bags on this site: http://www.bridesvillage.com/tea-allying-favors.html
You can put your wedding date on it and everything! It's super cute, especially for a victorian wedding!

Where can I get Dragon Lily Tea?
Jun 09, 2009 by Josh W | Posted in Other - Food & Drink
I once had this tea called "dragon lily" and I would In the end like to know where to get some. It looks like this ball of leaves, and you add it, to hot water and opens up like a giant pick in the tea pot. If anyone knows what im talking about, and knows a store where i could go to buy it, i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Besides flower pot or tea tray, what craft idea for broken dishes?
Sep 21, 2007 by K.B. | Posted in Hobbies & Crafts
I have some disconnected dishes (from new dish purchase, but Mfg. will send replacements) - and I'd like to try out the craft of doing a mosaic sympathetic of thing; something for the kitchen. I guess I could go with a tray, but what else? I don't have flower pots in my kitchen, 'cause the cats will eat the plants!
♥
We are prosperous to put in new granite countertops later so the backsplash will likely be made of that.
But wow, lots of great ideas here!
You could do trivets, spoon holders, stinting stuff like that!~
