Auburn to host early American decorative art show The Post-Standard Syracuse.com
18.04.10
Auburn, NY -- Fans and first-but viewers of early American decorative art can experience a brush with history this weekend in Auburn.
From Friday to Sunday, the Pre-eminent New York chapter of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration is hosting the organization’s annual nationalistic spring training and exhibition at the Auburn Holiday Inn.
The exhibit of early- to mid-19th century antique artwork and in circulation reproductions of those paintings will be on display all three days. The public can view the artwork at no charge.
“I find the arts are beautiful and so much of the art is connected to our progress as a country,’’ Sandra Cohen, president of the national organization, said from her home in Southborough, Piles., last week.
Some 100 antique pieces will be exhibited along with 30 to 40 reproductions that will be judged and awarded one-time to the show, Cohen said.
Some of the decorative artwork on display will include traditional country painting, bronze powder stenciling, misadventure glass painting, gold leaf and Victorian flower painting on everything from tablets to trays to trunks.

what is the precision of decorative arts?
Decorative arts loosely include furniture, pottery and ceramics, and architecture. In other words, it is the type of art associated with functional objects like buildings, couches, and jars. It does not cover painting, drawing, photograpy, sculpture, or other fine arts that are designed purely for aesthetic purposes and have no purely "practical" function.
Of course, the decorative arts predate the other arts, as mankind learned to make and appreciate useful objects such as delftware and housing long before he learned to make and appreciate purely aesthetic objects. Even early paintings and statues doubtlessly had a "practical" use tied to the spiritual or religious beliefs of the society.

Since "man" first had a two secs to rest between hunting and gathering "he" has been decorating his cave walls, telling stories with surface and decorating his personal weapons and belongings with carving and designs.
What do you do when you're bored? Decorative arts are the same as doodling on a desk, murals on buildings, hospice decorating or museum masters. These things are only different by a matter of degrees. Do you like your art or another stlye from this time or another?
Some of the decorative arts were dictated by belief, or politics, as to what was allowed to be painted, but most of today's are a matter only of personal taste

How can I entreat to Interior Designers?
(we're already on 1stdibs)
Hi! Deliberate on like an interior designer. Where do they look for resources? The Internet is only one tool. You might want to become a member of ASID as well as the pass associations, advertise in the better interior design and antique publications, perhaps get involved with a show like the Armory Show that's held in New York, or become associated with an established unshaken so you are represented in the showrooms, get involved with designer showcases, and list your firm in all resource journals. Hope that this helped a bit. Substantial luck!
